Hey guys, I was wondering if you can tell me what broke, My friend was plugging a DVI/HDMI into my pc with the door off (She was staying over and we moved it into the other room)

And she said she was so sorry. I checked the pc and the GPU fans are spinning maxed out but no video though it, She said the cable got inside the pc. I guess it shorted out something, So im using the same pc with the HDMI in the motheroard, Did she break the mobo or just the GPU? because I have a new one coming soon to replace it. God I hope it is just the GPU. lol

So once again, the motherboard or the GPU broke? The mobo seems fine since I'm using the pc to talk now just using the onboard graphics.

I should add the motherboard does not give any beeps since I don't have built in speakers.

Solution
Yes, the new one should work completely fine man. :)
If it doesn't, unselect my answer as the solution (if you're gonna pick it), and ask us what to do from there, we will be able to help you out.
I bet the new one will work perfectly though. :D

I returned the old one and will have a new one by the 1st. I just wanted to know because I'm worried I will have to replace the mobo and if I do that I will just get a i5/7 and better RAM while I'm at it. But I tell you, The AMD A8 6600k is a boss lil CPU for the money.

Anyone else sure its the GPU only?

I don't think it would have broken the PCI slot. :)
That's a great card. Best of luck getting a new one, I'm not sure if they'll replace it for free though as she probably caused physical damage, which wouldn't be covered under warranty. :S

Na, They already sent it xD Amazon is really good with returns. And I know! The card is great. She defiantly shocked it sicne she said the DVI was plugged in and the HDMI was inside the case when the pc turn off. So I guess the HDMI had a current going through it at the time and shocked the card since its large in my build. I'm using a tiny mobo too so I doubt it would have touched the mobo. Still though. I hope that just plugging a new one in fixes my problem, I hate using the 8570D APU for games.

Thanks man, I'm going to leave the board open a while then pick your answer when I get more opinions to be safe.

Oh I hope so. xD Lie I said, the only thing worrying me is that the shock might have damaged the PCI slot. You think it might have or naa. I have a great PSU and I think the mobo would have given me a warning or something saying it was broken, right?
