i3 4150 + GA h81m d2v not booting up!!

I have just bought an upgrade for my pc. I got the i3 4150 and the h81m d2v. My pc is not booting. Do i need to update my bios?

I would do so as some of the h81 boards need a BIOS update before they work with the haswell/haswell refresh CPUs, then if that doesn't work, try other things

Yes you might need a BIOS update to the motherboard.
The CPU is a Haswell Refresh cpu.

I dont see an f5 update on the GA h81m d2v site.. Will the f4 update work?

The motherboard will work with F4 or F5. But F5 is already out, you might as well use the latest one. Are you sure you can't find it, i can find it

So it didn't work because it came with an earlier version than f4?
I am asking because i have been thinking my cpu arrived broken and the store technician told me that the chances are very small that it came doa.

You need a compatible cpu before able to access the BIOS. Go into a computer repair shop and ask if they can update the motherboard BIOS for you using a Haswell cpu, not a Haswell refresh cpu.

Your motherboard most likely comes with an earlier bios version hence why your cpu doesn't work.

What ram did you get. Most of the time it will work. Motherboards manufacturers can't always test every ram released.
