Recently started experiencing problems with this graphics card. I keep getting artefacts on screen ( small distortions. I was having similar problems when waking the pc, so I updated drivers to latest beta which seemed to resolve the problem but now it seems to be back ?

I am running windows 8.1 pc - Asus Z87 - K

Just wondered if this is common with this card as it is a budget card, any ideas would be most appreciated. This is part of a self build and the graphics card is the only problem ive had, so im keen to sort this problem out..

Start by ensuring the Graphics Card is firmly inserted in its slot, not at an angle, and that the GPU Power Connectors are firmly and securely attached.

It's possible your GPU is overheating, which can cause graphical artifacts. Download GPU-Z and use it to check your GPU's temperature. Anything over 80C during load is a cause for serious concern (alt-tab out of a game/graphics intensive application directly to GPU-Z as temps will drop quickly even while alt-tabbed).

Download GPU-Z here:

If your GPU is indeed overheating you could start by downloading MSI Afterburner to manipulate your GPU cooler's fan speeds, possibly solving the problem that way. Otherwise install extra case fans aimed directly at the GPU or consider a custom cooling solution, although, on a budget card, this is unlikely to be worthwhile. Furthermore, ensure your case is free of dust as this can cause malfunctions/overheating.

I also think your overheating. AMD 5450 is super old. I do recommend upgrading immediately. Also, if your running over 85 celcius on load like the other guy said there will be concern. Make sure you dust out your case and make sure its all clean in there, dust blocks airflow.
