I have a cit 700ub power supply currently running a gts 250, Im looking to upgrade to a gtx 560ti and was wondering if this power supply is enough as I would need to use the one pci-e 6pin on board with a 2 molex to 1 6pin adaptor?
My CPU is Amd Athlon x4 640 3.0 ghx and I run 2 hard drives and 1 dvd rw drive also,
thanks in advance

Solution
The CIB 700W PSU is more than enough for the 560 Ti,since the 560 Ti requires a minimum of 500W to work properly.
However,if you have enough money,I would recommend getting a new PSU that is either Seasonic,XFX or Antec. If you buy one, make sure it's at least 550W.
You could go with the Seasonic M12 II 620W PSU.I am not saying that your CIB 700W isn't good or isn't enough for the 560 Ti,but if you want reliability,Seasonic, along with Antec and XFX,make some of the best PSUs.

Hey,I was helping out another friend about PSUs. He had a high-end system and the worst PSU ever. It was Tier 5: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-1804779/power-...
While I was looking at those CPUs I saw that CIT is also in Tier 5.
WHICH MEANS THAT YOU NEED TO REPLACE IT IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I am serious about this. The CIT appears to be a piece of crap, and it is : http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18232...
So I would recommend NOT getting the 560 Ti,if you haven't bought it yet(or if you have, dont install it yet). Wait till you collect enough money for a Seasonic M12 II 620W Bronze, which costs around $90
Please, listen to my advice if you want to save your system.

Thanks for your replies but the fact is I don't have the money right now to spend 70-80quid on a new psu, also the existing psu cit 700ub has been in operation for over 12months now with no problems... In addition to this on calculating the power consumption changes when replacing my cpu and gpu I will be using 25watts more with the gtx 560 ti than my previous gts 250 but the cpu moving from Athlon x2 6000+ to Athlon x4 640 will reduce consumption here by 30 watts meaning overall I will be using 5 watts less than I have been for the last 12 months, surely meaning less taxing on my psu?

I do understand there are bad reviews and people don't seem to like the cit 700ub however I am using it on a system using around 500 watts rather than their advertised 700 so it's not a case of putting it under pressure and expecting 700watt stability, I do appreciate your thoughts and opinions but as it's already managed this for the last 12 months with no issues I don't see much reason to spend a lot of money replacing it

It may said 700W,but a lot of cheap PSUs actally cannot support the wattage they say it can because their internals are often bad quality. In this case, this PSU can support 400-500W max.
Like I said,it is on you to choose if you want to stick with the CIT 700 or buy a new PSU.
My recommendation is not to install the 560 Ti untill you get a new, better quality PSU,like a Seasonic M12 II 620W.
Quick note: the GTS 250 uses 450W,and the 560 Ti uses 500W,so it's not 25W,it's 50W.

Just a note as I prev said I'm aware it may well only be aprox 500 watts but your note about power consumption is incorrect! See http://www.hwcompare.com/8930/geforce-gts-250-1gb-vs-geforce-gtx-560-ti/

I can only imagine you are listing each cards recommended psu rather than actual power consumption of the card itself!
The gts 250 consumes aprox max 145 watts and with the gtx 560 ti aprox 170watts! The figures you quote take into account other components such as hard drives, cpu, DVD drives keyboards etc etc if the cards did consume 450-500 watts as your post suggests the you would actually need an 800-900 watt psu to power the rest of the pc, as I stated the overall load will drop by 5watts taking the drop in cpu power consumption into account meaning the psu that's managed for the last 12months should continue to do so just fine!

Wow,I can't believe I've switched those two...My mistake.:p
It's your choice for the PSU.
