Once a few hours my computer is shut down due to a power surge being detected by asus. I contacted PC specialist over this problem and they decided to send me out a new power supply, yet this problem still continues.
Fixing a symptom without first observing the problem is called shotgunning. Made more complicated because the word surge describes so many completely different anomalies. An Asus surge has no relationship to a surge observed on USB ports or voltage variations on the wall receptacle, or a floating ground.
A problem that causes that message is found using a digital meter, one minute of labor, and requested instructions. Resulting three digit numbers will accuse or exonerate a suspects including a supply. And may identify a defect that exists even when the computer appears to work normally or was first purchased.
Otherwise just keep replacing good parts or supplies until it stops 'surging'.
BTW, anti-surge protection does not exist. What Asus calls a surge may be a low voltage. Nothing protects from a voltage that is constantly low but only sometimes causes a surge message.
