Hey, I'm looking for CPUs that can run the upcoming Next-Gen games (AC: Unity, BF: Hardline, CoD: AW, etc) on high to medium settings at 30-60 FPS.
I'm overwhelmed by all the possibilities and I don't want to make the wrong choice, I've read that for gaming the graphics card is more important than the CPU and that after a certain point the Ghz and cores have a much smaller impact on performance. Can anyone advise me on a CPU? (preferably under 150 bucks).

I myself have found these CPUs (don't know if they're any good), theyre about the same price in the Netherlands

FX 6300 if you are on a budget. FX 8320 if you can afford it.
Note you need a good motherboard to pair it with. Especially if you want to overclock.
This motherboard is good to use for either of the cpu you listed.

All of those are adequate. They perform very well for their price. Out of those, if you are an overclocker, then the 8320 is the one to beat, with the 6300 still being very good. If you refuse to ever overclock, then the 6350 is probably the best of the 3 with higher clock rates out of the box.

Intel is currently the real performers though. I would suggest one of the latest i5 cpus if your budget stretches.

edit: under $150? Then see above and forget the i5.

Your best bet is going to be the 8320. This chip is unlikely to struggle with any of those games, assuming you have a graphics card powerful enough to push it.

At maximum settings right now, the 6 core variants can get very high load % across all threads, however when looking at medium settings, I doubt they would have an issue either.

Still, if you're on a budget and cannot afford an i5, the 8320 is a very good chip to get, and should play all of those games you listed with no trouble at all on a good graphics card.

If you know the monitor resolution and budget, we can suggest some good graphics cards to pair with the chip also :)

I've watched a lot of overclocking videos, but I've never tried it myself. Can you advise some good thermal paste and fans that aren't that pricey but can still give me a 0.5 - 1.5 ghz overclock?

I currently have a card out of the AMD Radeon HD 5700 series, I'm pretty sure it's s**t but to be sure could it run these next gen games on mid-high, could it even fit on a motherboard with this chip?
If not my monitor is 1920x1080 60Hz, as for the budget, the card that give the most performance for it's money, I'm not looking to run Ultra or heavy AA.

Go i5 with an inexpensive H81 board. FX, good cooler, and a quality board, in order to overclock, would end up being a similar cost. Something like this.

Would changing the FX-6300 to a FX-8320 8-Core Black Edition increase performance and the overclock? Are all 8-cores used?

Performance, in 99% of all games, the i5 would still win. If you are willing to throw down that kind of money, spend a little more and go with this instead. The FX 8320 will probably not overclock as far as an FX 6300 with that cooler, you would want a better one, making the cost even higher. In the other 1% that can make use of the 8 threads, the Xeon would win, even overclocked to 4.8ghz on the FX 8320.

So if I put my budget at ± $250 what would be the best CPU and motherboard (fan) combination. Would you advise an Intel card or AMD?

Yes, the intel cpus are currently the best if you can stretch your budget to meet them. If you choose intel, and won't overclock, the stock fan that comes with the cpu is fine. If you get a K series intel cpu, and are not trying to overclock through the roof, the Coolermaster hyper 212 evo is fine. What are the prices for i5 4XXX series cpus in the Netherlands?

If the price difference is absurd, don't fret, the AMD cpus will still do the job, but the intel i5 cpus are certainly worth a bit extra if you can stretch things.

Cards? You mean graphics cards? AMD graphics cards offer the best price for performance out of AMD and Nvidia, again it depends on how much you wish to spend. Intel don't have any graphics worth mentioning.

I've already looked at the K-series prices before, but I think the whole package (K-series CPU, motherboard fan) is just exceeding my budget of ± $250, could you advise a Intel processor and a motherboard (fan if needed) under $260 that's stronger than an AMD build? I get if is this impossible and if it is I'll think I'll stick to an overclocked FX-6300

I my self am a intel person. But if you are looking for a amd go with the 8230. Bit more future proof. Honestly a i5 would be alot better for video games. But get what you want.
