Hi,
I have an old E8500 and I'm thinking of upgrading it to Pentium g620 or other sandy bridge pentium. I may as well get the latest pentium but my friend has a sandy bridge mobo so I won't need a new motherboard. And I have a very tight budget.
I mostly use my PC for gaming, but I'm not a hardcore gamer.

So will I see any improvement in terms of gaming? And as I said, I'm on a very tight budget.

Any help is much appreciated. :)

My PC specs:

E8500
Asus P5pql motherboard
4GB Ram
Gtx 560
500 watt power supply

Admirable
It will be a very slight improvement, if i were you i'd save some money and get a 1150 mobo and a 4130, that will be a great improvement if you're on a budget. Or you can go the amd route, with a am3+ mobo and a 740k.

Don't listen to this guy ^^

Save up enough money and go for a used sandy bridge i5.. they're pretty cheap on the market and the new haswell or ivy bridge aren't even a 20% increase from the old sandy bridge architecture.

Do NOT go with the pentium G620, the performance leap would not be worth it but if you are planning on a cheap upgrade.. get the Pentium K edition (haswell) and pair it up with a decent socket 1150 motherboard and you'll have single core performance close to that of an i7

I still STRONGLY emphasize on getting a sandy bridge i5 such as the 2500k
