Using Win7 Enterprise. One client moved desktop from one desk to another 10 feet away. Now Win7 has become confused about the video cards. When using the add on card with two monitors on DVI cables, Windows thinks it is using the onboard video (vga on motherboard). When using the vga onboard video, Win7 thinks it is using the add on video card.
Windows has swapped the info on the video cards. Is there a way to hack the registry and swap them back? Or erase the entries and have Windows discover the video card(s) again?
So far I have pulled the add on card but Win7 still thought it was using it. I have checked BIOS settings and display settings. Desktop is a Dell OptiPlex 980.
Client doesn't want to do without desktop while it would be re-imaged, so I was looking for a fix. They would like to extend the desktop between the two monitors but now it only mirrors the monitors because it thinks it is using the vga output (when it is really using the add on card). Discovered this when looking at the description of the video cards and monitors when trying each setup.
