When trying to burn a 3.4GB ISO file to a DVD+R disc using Nero 7, the operation completes normally without any errors. However, when I try to use the disc, it appears as blank to vista. However, when I look at the physical disc it appears that it has written OK. I've updated the drivers of my Pioneer DVR-106D and still have the same problem. I've wasted so many discs now trying to get this fixed. Does anyone have any suggestions?

You cannot just copy an ISO to a disc. You have to "burn the image" to the disc.

Yeah, I wasn't trying to copy the .ISO file onto a data disc, I was trying to burn the .ISO. I also tried the standalone "FreeISOburner" program. It didn't even try to burn it - it gave me "Hardware Error 14849". I googled that and Microsoft have a tool to fix the problem. However, it still hasn't worked

Make sure that the disk is new (no data has been written to it) and free of scratches and other defects on the face of the disk.

Not overly familiar with Nero, but given the age of that drive, I'd suggest lowering the write speed down to 1x.

Four brand new Verbatim DVD+R discs without a scratch. The DVD+RW drive in question has always functioned well. I used to burn DVDs frequently but haven't for a year or two

Make sure the speed is as low as the software enables (most probably x1), this may take some time but it is the best option in this case.

Nero won't let me set the speed but attempts at 4x. The discs are rated 16x but the drive is quite old.
