What does intake and exhaust mean on fans?

I have a fan and it says intake and exhaust, which one blows air outside and which one blows air inside? ( I have a window fan)

Hi Ashley!
The fan should have a cross going from one corner to the other on one of the sides, this side is where the air is blown out.
That's pretty much all you need to know,

Intake = sucks air into the case
Exhaust = exhausts(or blows) air out of the case

Intake takes in air and exhaust take its out as it were. Intake fans should be drawing in cool air to keep the system at a low temperature and exhausts fans should be removing the warm air and dispose of it into the room around you. Hope this helps :)

Intake fans are installed in the front of the case to suck in fresh cool air.
Exhaust fans are at the back and/or top of the computer case to blow the hot air out

Depending on the case exhaust fans can also be installed at the bottom as well :)
