I recently got uverse connection from att. I do not have a TV. I borrowed one from my friend during the installation, the att rep set up my cable (and dvr) and verified that it is working. I returned the TV back to my friend.

Now I have a fully functional uverse connection and dvr without a TV. I do not want to buy a tv as of now. I was wondereing whether I can stream the tv over to projector or something. It would be great if I can do it over a wifi so that I can keep my projector wherever I want. I can connect devices like raspberry pi to projector. However I dont know how to trasmit uverse tv over wifi.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

With all of the streaming I understand the confusion about sending video over wifi. At this time (maybee in 2016/2017) devices do not out of the box send video over wifi. Streaming occurs because a device A has video file 123, device A sends the file in its native file format to Device B, Device B then has to be a computer or device that can play that kind of file format and output it to the screen.

In the case of a DVR box, it is outputing raw video data via hdmi and is received by a display device (tv/projector/etc). This raw video can not be sent via wifi until OEMs provide a direct link from the digitial input/output boards to the wifi chipset.

You are not without options though:
1 - You can obvioulsy hook your dvr to your projector with hdmi/dvi/composite or whatever input/output you have availible.
2 - As far as wireless you would have to get a hdmi or other format wireless transmittor which frankly most do not perform well.
3 - Most cable companies allow you to stream their channels via internet to an internet connected device. This is coming from their server on the internet though not a dvr. So you could hook a computer to the projector and play it that way. You can try the raspberry pi but I cant say how well its performance of web content will be, espically using a usb wifi adapter.
4 - There are select few dvr boxes out there that do allow you to access the dvr via the internet so you can check into that as well
