Hi i just thought I'd post this to get a quick answer
Right my question is if I have two different gpus in my pc (not crossfire or sli) will they both work depending on which one I plug the monitor into
For example
One game plays better on nvidia or ati if there both in there will it be as simple as plugging the monitor into the card I want to be using for processing

Solution
It would not work quite how you think. First of all the game would have to have the ability for you to select the gpu you want to use.

Secondly, only high end motherboards have true dual (or tripple) x16 pci slots. Meaning on most boards the top one runs at x16 speed but the bottom one runs at x8 speed. Thus the second one would not be bennifical for you.

People do multi-gpus that are not sli/crossfire but they use them either for dual monitor support or if cards are both nvidia you can set the secondary one to be a physics engine. You will be much much better off buying the best single gpu you can afford vs buying 2 gpus, espically one nvidia and one ati.
