I have a Cougar Spike mATX case equipped with 2 120mm side fans, and I was looking for a decent (preferably quiet) aftermarket cooler for my i5-4430. I have been reading that many coolers will fit in the case, but only without 120mm fans on the side panel because the coolers have too much overhead.

My mobo is a Gigabyte GA-B85M-HD3 and I also have a Gigabyte 660GTX in there, if that makes a difference.

SO what do you guys think? Are there any good coolers you would recommend that will not use that overhead? If not, would it be worth it to get one of the larger, more often suggested coolers and ditch the side fans completely? I have been hesitant to ditch anything I have to cool my case because I live in a very hot area/very hot house.

Awesome thanks, any recommendations on some decent coolers that fit that range? I'm having trouble finding dimension specs for some fans online.

Sorry for not responding. you could go with a closed loop water cooler in the exhaust fan position (Corsair H55 i believe its 60 on newegg)

or you could use lp coolers (noctua low profile) but those r the same 60 bucks.

Or you could use a 92mm zalman performa.

120mm rads aren't worth it.The NH-D14 is better.

Thanks for the replies guys! I ended up getting a fan, can't remember the exact model at the monent but it is a 92mm cooler master. I'm happy with it so far, unfortunately I took your under 140mm advice a little too literally, the height of the fan/sink is 139mm and it doesn't matter user have enough clearance for my fans.

Just wondering, would you recommend outside mounting of the two case fans? Right now I am sitting pretty at around 50C under load in games without the 2 side fans, and haven't gone over 60C with Intel burn test which is a definite improvement. However, if having the side fans would take some of the stress off the cooler I would try it, they are pretty quiet fans. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated, thanks again.
