Hi all,
I have a pretty decent but slightly dated Aurora:

  • x58 chip set with an Intel I7-920 processor
    6 GB of 1333 DDR3 ram
Dual SLI GTX 260 graphic card

I would like to upgrade my graphic cards but I am wondering if I can still use one of my old cards to support SLI. I only have space for two cards total. I am worried that if I get a GTX 760 or similar it won't be compatible or it will be limited by my 260. The 260 only supports direct x 10.

Is it worth keeping my old card or should I bit the bullet and buy two new cards?

Any feedback is appreciated!

you can't SLI with two different graphics processors (gpus). If you have a 760 from Asus and a 760 from Gigabyte, you can, but that's the only way SLI can be done. You'll have to get two 760's. Does your board support crossfire? You may want to look into that instead since AMD cards tend to be slightly cheaper if that's your thing.

I believe crossfire has slightly lower system requirements (less bandwidth per slot) so it may be easier to run in crossfire than in SLI. Plus AMD cards generally tend to be cheaper.
