A few days ago i posted all the components i was going to use for my first PC build, In this build i had Intel core i5 4670k CPU. Ever since I told my "mate" this he keeps saying that Intel are terrible and consume lots of power whereas AMD have much better gaming performance and are very efficient.

Im new 2 all of this PC stuff and im really not sure what to do now, Please help :)

Thx :)

BTW: I my gfx card is a gigabyte gtx 760 2gb gddr5 OC

You friend is nuts imho. Intel processors do a lot more per clock cycle on each cpu then AMD's do. AMD is currently trying to make up for their per clock cycle lag by adding more CPU's to the mix. This doesn't help games that are not multi processor aware and there are also some issues with loss across multiple processors.

Splendid
That is completely backwards Intel CPUs consume a lot less power and are more effieciant they also benchmark higher. If you want to be cheap and take a performance hit then go AMD otherwise stick with Intel its worth the money

Your friend is living in the Athlon days and needs to keep up. AMD is good in lower end systems with dedicated GPU's and for media box's without dedicated graphics. Along with lower end systems used for video editing etc given the highly threaded nature of the bulldozer cores. This might change in 2016 given the return of one of the major designers of the Athlon to AMD and a new architecture that is supposed to show up in 2016 but we will see.

+1, your mate is a fanboy, I think, right now, bothe amd and intel has good products. Only some components are a bit better for something and another.

I personally prefer intel but I sold lots of amd system and all clients are satisfied.
Basically, if your tight on money, AMD will save you a few bucks.

+1. If you want a cooler, hassle free system that will be relevant for next 3 years, intel is the way to go :)

And would you please tell your "mate" to not to talk about things he doesn't have a clue about?
