I do a lot of video editing and picture editing and looking to change my current PC. I have been recommended a home built PC at the £697.19 with the following spec -

Gigabyte GA-Z87-D3HP (Skt 1150)
Right-Tec 3.5 inch Internal All in one card reader (RT-67D)
Intel i5 4670 (Skt 1150) retail kit
Microsoft windows 8.1 64 bit
ATX Case 500w 2720d galaxy III
Mushkin 8gb DDR3 PC3 12800 (1600Mhz)
Seagate 2TB SATA III 7200RPM 64 MB Cache
Pioneer 16x Blu-Ray Writer (BDR-209DBK)
EVGA GeForce GT 640 2GB PCiEx

I wanted to know whether it would be better to get an off the shelf PC for that price which is the same spec or better. Please advise. I'm assuming the Harddrives from my old PC were to be installed in this new one if I had it built.

Thanks

Are you planning to do upgrades in future? If so, go with home built. Good thin about off the shelves ones though, is that they 100% work and they have warranty and other stuff. Whit them, you don't have to deal with troubleshooting or warranties of each component. On the other hand, with home built pc you know whats in there and its easy to upgrade and tinker with. In the end, it's your choice!

I'm probably not looking to upgrade but at that price what off the shelf computer could you suggest. Perhaps an i7 processor for the video editing purpose.
