PC Not Using GPU

Good day. So I recently built a PC and had some trouble with the computer recognizing the GPU (http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2223837/problem-recognizing-gpu.html) but have since solved that problem. Unfortunately, as I learned today, although the PC was displaying the GPU in the device manager (along with the integrated graphics card), it wasn't using it to run any games. I did some research and people suggested that the way to get around this was to disable the integrated graphics card in the BIOS in order to force Windows to rely on the GPU. However, once I did that, I stopped getting any display at all (and can't even see the BIOS or startup anymore). I'm not sure what to do about this. I mean, I tried googling the BIOS and just using what key strokes I thought would turn back on the integrated graphics but that didn't work. How should I get my basic display back? And beyond that, how do I get my computer to start actually using my expensive GPU so that I can actually run games satisfactorily?

Thanks in advance!

Well, right now it's not showing me anything but I've only disabled the onboard graphics card. My drivers were up to date but no game could recognize or make use of my external GPU. My problem is that nothing is actually recognizing and thus making use of the card. Again, note that I can see nothing right now despite the GPU not having been disabled in the BIOS.

Your monitor is plugged into the gfx card? The monitor is set to DVI, HDMI, or VGA... which ever you are using?

Do I do this by removing the battery from my mobo?

Either that or using the jumper block on your motherboard. You can find that in your motherboards manual.

Okay so I've got my display back. I was able to enable the onboard graphics card in my BIOS without being able to see it (and hopefully I didn't screw up anything else...). The problem remains though that games are not recognizing or using my GPU. Deus Ex, for example, only lists my onboard graphics card in the boot menu and doesn't even show another option.

You really dont have the monitor connected to the GPU?? Conect it ASAP

Because the GPU does the processing and rendering.
To make it clear, the monitor should always be connected to the GPU card if one is installed.
If you cannot get video output from the DVI or VGA port on the GPU then somehting is wrong
