MSI GTX760 "Ticking" every 4 seconds?

What could be causing a consistent "clicking" or "ticking" about every 4 seconds in an MSI GTX760? The card is only about 2 months old and I just noticed the sound a couple of weeks ago. Neither the pitch nor the tempo of the noise changes when I alter the fan speeds. I recorded it and put it on my soundcloud here:

You can hear the "tick" 3 times in that recording. Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to reply!

Hmm, definitely helps to have the sound, but I'm in the office and can't turn my speakers up enough to hear it.

I'll come back and try to help when I get home.

That being said, the fact that it doesn't change with the fan means that it's not the fan hitting a loose wire like I first thought, nor something screwy inside of the fan.

That leaves me to either think that it's the strangest dang symptom of coil whine I've ever heard, or it's coming from somewhere else in your system. From what I could hear, it sounds almost exactly like what modern motherboards do when you first push the power button and turn them on - they make a single click like that as the on-board switch triggers.

Well I feel silly now.. turns out it was a loose wire (my motherboard's speaker somehow worked its way up into the fan). The fan would attempt to start, hit the speaker, stop, and repeat every few seconds. Thanks for the help!

Ahhhh - I didn't think about the possibility that the fan wasn't able to startup at all!

glad that I could help, and very glad that you noticed this and took care of it before getting into a situation where the GPU overheated because the fan wasn't working.

...The graphics card seriously should have been telling the motherboard to produce a major error code instead of POSTing, though...

Yeah, some kind of notification would have been nice.. There are actually two fans on the card and the second was working fine (which is why I didn't notice the one was blocked at first), and the GPU governs itself and adjusts the fan speed to keep the temp below 80, but I'm sure this would've caused problems down the road if I didn't catch it. Thanks again!
