Can i run games correctly with 6GB of RAM?

As said in the title, i'd like to know if i will be able to play games correctly with my new PC with 6GB RAM. I know that 4GB is fine, but i want to know if it'll better to pay for another 2GB so as to have 8GB total. You should also know that I like games like Dead Island, Left 4 Dead, etc.

6GB will work, chances are good though it's either set up as 4GB in dual channel, and 2 in single, which is prohibitive performance wise (flex mode) or all 6GB is in single channel, also prohibitive. 6 is fine, 8 would be better.
