So I'll start off with my parts which are as follows:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

Case: Lian-Li PC-7HWX ATX Mid Tower Case (£119.59 @ Overclockers.co.uk)
Power Supply: EVGA 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply (£80.90 @ Amazon UK)
Total: £280.85

So my PSU has a power cable with multiple 4 pin female molex connectors.

My case has 3 case fans, each fan has a double sided molex, 1 male side, 1 female.

I connect the female molex of the PSU to the male molex side of the rear case fan, leaving the female side. To this female side I connect a male molex which on the other side is a 4 pin(hole) which I then plugged into the 4 pin slot on my mobo labelled sysfan1.

After doing this my system wouldnt even turn on for some reason and I went back to my previous config which was using the PSU cable to connect molex's to the 2 front fans but not at all to the mobo.
The rear fan was the opposite and wasnt connected to the PSU at all and only connected to the 4 pin slot on the mobo. (the PSU cable with Molex connectors isnt big enough to reach all fans so I tried to get atleast 1 set working through trial and error).

Any tips on what I'm doing wrong/how I fix it please?

Thanks

I checked your case and mobo and you can do the following. You can remove the molex adapter from the fans power cables and plug the 3 pin connectors directly to the mobo labeled sys fan 1, 2 and 3 or you can leave the molex connectors on and plug directly in 1 molex power cable from the power supply, or you can buy a fan controller and plug into that device that slides into a 5 and quarter inch bay.

Oh I wasn't even aware the molex was removable from the fan cable.

Just to be clear, are you saying that if I connect a molex from my PSU to the molex of the case fan then it should work WITHOUT also connecting to the mobo? It's my first build and it's all went great apart from this and I'm a little confused.

yes, it will work either way. They have so you can control the fans with an adapter or let the mobo control them or if the case has a built controller the molex power will give you control
