Hi there! Im trying to add 2gb of ram to my old computer with 2, 1gb sticks and I heard you need to have the same speed... Now I used CPU-Z and it says my current ram stick is

DDR2 PC2-4300 (266 MHz)

I'm having a hard time finding one on new egg that is exactly the same... Do I need just the same speed 266 MHz or do I need it to be DDR2 PC2 4300 as well?

You need all of that and timings as well. :(

My best advice is to go to a memory manufacturer's site, and us their online utilities to inspect your PC and suggest compatible RAM.

Kingston, Crucial, and G.Skill have such utilities. If you buy from them what their utility recommends, they will guarantee compatibility or you can return the memory..

Yeah man, you need all the same RAM and speeds as when you start mixing them, it will become very problematic.

If you could supply me with your motherboard model, I could help you with buying some new sticks?

Oh sorry I just realised what you were wanting to do in the first place, I can't find any of your model whether they have discontinued it, I am not too sure but if were looking for an upgrade I would recommend those sticks I linked. They are faster than what you have now and they are compatible with your build.
