I just got a new power supply and installed it in my computer this morning, but when I turned the system back on, there was no signal from my graphics card. I have a Geforce 560 Ti card and when I turn the power on, the fan runs but there is no signal. I am using a HDMI cable. One other thing, I tried the onboard graphics and it worked except that windows needed to do a system restore (which I thought was strange). I ran 'dxdiag' and my computer did not even recognize my card (which I unseated during the installation of the power supply). Halp me!

Why did you get a 560ti?? any way the gpu is seated in the mobo right, secondly its connected into the monitor with hdmi cord have you tried anything else. GO into the bios see if it recongizes the gpu.

I built it two years ago, I am just starting to upgrade the components, starting with a new power supply. I will check the bios, but like I said, the dxdiag did not detect the card when I used the onboard graphics.

try reseating your graphics card in it's pcie slot, if that doesn't work, try putting it in another pcie slot.

And, how many watts is the PSU? If it's only like 430W then that is the reason why it's not seeing the graphics card, it's because there isn't enough power to the graphics card.

only has one pci power cord so does this card have two if it does then it needs both.

The card has two slots for pcie cords, but the power supply only has the one. Do I just need to get a different power supply compatible with the graphics card? I will be upgrading the graphics card in the future.

No, he gave the EVGA Supernova G2 750W (a great PSU) a 9.8 rating. Check the link again.

They should be fine, that PSU is Tier 2 Class A so should work no problems. Thing is, for less money you can get an AMD card comparable to a GTX 770, an r9 280. This one is only $200! (Add to cart to see the price) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... The downside to AMD cards is they generally use more power, so maybe use the extra money saved on the GPU on a slightly better PSU like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

What I am saying is that the PSU you have is not good, and worse than junk, it could potentially be downright dangerous. change it ASAP

A lot of things come into this, I'm not a PSU expert like JonnyGuru but everything from capacitors (Japanese > Chinese capacitors) to wire quality affects efficiency, safety and quality of the PSU. Next time you look at PSUs, either choose one from that list (id say Tier 2 Class B upwards) or look at PSUs on the market, then look at that list. Avoid anything Tier 4 or 5, 3 is OK but get a slightly higher wattage in Tier 3 just in case

I assume these two are compatible? (I am still a little confused how they notate the pins.)

Yeah I saw that when I looked back. On the back of the power supply, there is only one pcie red cord coming out with 4 black regular ones. So maybe they packaged the wrong power supply.
