hey my friend just did format C on his computer.

and after that im helping him to install all the drivers but it says he doesnt have a graphic adapter.

i went to this site http://support.amd.com/en-us/download
and he chose auto detect and install and it cant find a GPU.

it is a ATI Radeon HD2600 but what driver does he need then? is it just a driver from the HD 2*** series?

More about : computer dont graphic adapter

Yes, it would be the driver for the HD2*** series, the driver they offer will cover all models from that generation of cards.

ok just to be sure, would the driver fit for this card? cause this is the one my friend had its ATI not AMD

So your card is AGP? The driver you mentioned before is for PCI-e cards.

If so, you would use the "All Radeon HD Series AGP" driver in that list.

I have a Radeon 3850 AGP in my older system and the auto detect never finds it.

Try using CPU-Z to find out. It's a free online program. On the "Mainboard" tab, there is a part that's called "Graphic Interface" and that's where it will tell you.

ATI became AMD
Since the 2xxx series was made in both PCIe and AGP it is imporant to know what kind of slot you have

ok, but i dont think its AMD card. is ATI and AMD the same? cause i cant select AGP cards on this site http://support.amd.com/en-us/download

AMD bought ATI back in 2006, so all ATI cards are supported by AMD.

http://support.amd.com/en-us/download
Step 1: Desktop Graphics
Step 2: Radeon HD Series
Step 3: All Radeon HD Series AGP (second from the bottom of the list)
Step 4: Choose you version of Windows

If the GPU still works and it's the right driver, then yes it will. What did CPU-Z say the graphic interface is?

I'm assuming the monitor is plugged into ththis GPU now and just using a generic Windows Driver.

Did the installation fail or are you going from what the description says?

If you choose the Windows 7 32-bit selection for the OS step, it says it supports Vista as well. Looks like the Vista 32-bit link there is bad.

Was the an error, message, or explanation for why it didn't install?

no explanation, it just said that there were issues and that we could see it in the logs. so we opened the logs and there we could read AMD Driver Failed. thats all

Is this a pre-biult system? i.e. Dell, HP?

If it is, you need to go to the manufacturers website and get all the driver for your system. There might be a AGP support driver missing.
