What OS Disks Will I Need?

My Acer laptop's original hard drive has recently been giving me troubles, so I am looking into buying a new one. But I don't have any of the OS disks that originally came with my laptop.
Are there any other disks, aside from a Windows 7/8 disk, that I will need to get to make sure I'll be able to install everything I'll need again to have a working laptop again?

Most of your laptop drivers should be available at their homepage. Without those, there might be components that will not work, or work at reduced capacity. If anything, the first thing I'd get on a USB stick is the LAN/WI-Fi controller drivers, before starting over.
