Ok so today I had this problem where windows 8 was taking a really long time to boot so I decided to shut off the computer by holding the power button down. Once the computer shut off, I decided to unplug the computer. Being the stupid person I am, I forgot to flip the power switch off on the back of my psu! The computer is working fine now but I am a very paranoid person. Do you think I may have damaged it?

Solution
Heard a buzz when you pulled out the power cable, didn't you? Relax, you're fine, its nothing. But the general rule is that you pull it out of main socket first before disconnect it from the PSU.

On the PSU's side, the triangular socket is secured much more firmly and getting it in there can be at times more difficult. That's why its safer to get it into the PSU first before plugging in the main power socket.

Its not that it will damage the PSU, it can melt the cable plug... worst case scenario is that you may need a new one.
