What motherboard do I really need?

Hi everyone,

I am creating the parts list for my new computer.

I have selected the 4790k processor

I do not intend to overclock

I will only use 1 high end graphics card (additional PCIe slots are of no use to me)

I want an optical audio out with good quality on-board sound

There are so many motherboards to look at, I find it a bit overwhelming to even begin! please help me narrow my search

The turbo on the 4790k goes to 4.4ghz, apparently people only overclock it to 4.6, maybe 4.7ghz stable. Doesn't seem worth the effort?

The budget is flexible, I don't want to pay for things that I'm not going to use (i.e. 2x16 PCIe slots), so if I say $400 and someone picks a $399 motherboard for the sake of coming close to the budget... that doesn't really help me if I'm not going to make full use of that motherboard!
