Would it be too much to expect macbook pros with broad well CPUs to have the ability to get high frame rates and resolutions with upcoming games? I would prefer to have a gaming PC or laptop but some of my classes require the Mac operating system and we get free service repairs at my college.

You'd have to drop some serious bucks to get a Macbook capable of anything other than Solitaire.

Long Answer: The problem is Apple doesn't put discrete GPUs in most of their Macbooks. Thus leaving the entire system almost unilaterally dependent on the IGP of the Intel CPU. Intel's IGP is good, but it isn't that good. Knowing this, it is to be expected that your FPS will suffer accordingly.

Short Answer: Yes. Unless you want to drop the better half of $3K on a Macbook with a discrete GPU, you probably won't see any worthy FPS.

Apparently current 13 inch macbook are capable of playing titanfall and games of that caliber. If current ones can play this game with good fps at good resolution then wouldn't it be safe to say the next broadwell igp could handle games like that even better? Its been posted on many websites that the new igp will be vastly superior to haswell. I should have clarified when I said upcoming games. I'll be playing Minecraft and some source based games (titanfall), maybe the upcoming evolve. Not AC or FC4

I'm about to eat some serious crow.

Titanfall is no slouch. I looked up some videos on Youtube, and it looks like it does alright.

If I'm not mistaken I think Intel's looking to advance their IGP for the Broadwell release. I don't think Broadwell will be much different than Haswell/Haswell-E in terms of raw computing power. That said, I think it can only get better with a Broadwell CPU going forward.

It looks like a capable gaming machine to me, within reasonable expectations.
