Having Strange CPU Usage Issues (ANSWERED IN DIFFERENT THREAD, PLEASE CLOSE)

So, around afternoon today, I noticed that Skyrim was lagging more than it was usually does (which is none at all). I thought it was because I had too many mods installed. I tried experimenting with removing some mods, but eventually got fed up and quit. Five minutes later, I noticed that whenever I opened more than two browsers in Chrome OR Firefox, I'd be getting serious memory leakage/lag. I checked the CPU usage, and it varied from ~90%-100% usage. Chrome and Firefox seem to be the perpetrators, but I really have no idea for certain. My computer is on the carpet, so I might need to clean out the dust (built it during Spring Break this year, and haven't cleaned it out yet), but I'd like to get some ideas before I buy anything.

Anyway, my CPU is an Intel Quad Core i5-4670k. Not sure if I need post my other specs. I have 8 GB of available RAM. I also have 3 fans in my case, and Windows 7 Ultimate.

I don't think so. This happened recently, and I haven't installed any suspicious .exes or downloaded any sketchy files at all. I don't use Internet Explorer, and I keep both Chrome and Firefox up to date, and I have Avast! Antivirus installed.

I do see four "chrome.exe *32" processes running all at the same time, and they're using up a lot of memory. That doesn't sound normal, does it? One is using around 550,000 K under the "Memory" section of Task Manager, another one is using 150,000 K, the third is using around 85,000 K, and the last is using around 55,000 K.

I tried ending the task that was using 550,000 K before rebooting it, and the CPU usage with one tab open is down from 34% to single digits. Seems to have worked, but I tried shutting it down, waiting 30 minutes, then booting it up again, and that only worked for a short period of time. I'll keep this thread open for a few more days, and if it's still working fine, then I'll credit you with solving and close the thread.

Thanks for the help. No idea what was causing that, though.

There's no need to wait that long during a reboot. 30 seconds is sufficient.

Install ccleaner and remove all unwanted crap that chrome uses.

Well, it's doing similar things again today. It's not using 550,000 K of memory this time for Chrome, but half the processes on the list are using 10,000+ K, and whenever I try and open three tabs at the same time all of my CPU's memory is used. This never happened before, and this is getting ridiculous.
