Gigabyte 970A-DS3P support 290x crossfire

I have a gigabyte 970a-ds3p mobo. I was trying multi-gpu setup with 290xs (Club 3d 290x and sapphire 290x). when i try to connect the second gpu, the pc turns on for split second and then turns off? Is this a problem with the mobo? the webpage does state that this mobo supports crossfire.

PSU: Thermaltake 1375W 80 Plus Gold

It may be a defective PSU. Have you tried the 2nd card alone to be sure it is OK? Btw, you won't be happy with the CF performance on that MB. Like all 970 chipsets, it only does X16, x4 lanes bandwidth. If you look close at the 2nd PCIe X16 slot, you'll see that it only has half of its contacts... wired x4. The 2nd 290X will not be able to run at full performance and may even drag down the performance of the 1st card.

I don't think its the psu. It's doing the same thing with my 1000w psu. Both cards are working when I plug them into the x 16 slot individually. So not the gpu also. Anyways, I have ordered a 990 chipset mobo. It can run two cards in x16 speeds. Thanks for the info.. :)
