Just did it quickly. His budget is $1050, definitely couldn't go higher than what I've gone in that build. Any changes/recommendations? He's only going to be using it for gaming. He wants the best graphics card he can afford for his budget, which is why I thought AMD would be the way to go. He doesn't mind too much about things like the case etc so if theres cheaper options just say.

Also if you'd like to post your own builds around that budget or link me to similar ones that'd be good too :)

Thanks,
Liam

PS: I don't have much idea about motherboards, so just chose a cheapish one that had high/lots of reviews on pcpartpicker, so yeah, change at will.

Solution
Budget wise, go with the 4460 over the 4590. It's just different clock speeds. It's cheaper anyways, same performance in most gaming situations.

Motherboard, H97 chipset so you don't have to deal with any bios updates.

RAM, 1600Mhz cas9 is usually minimal (at least to me).

GPU, lowered it to get prices lower. It'll still do fairly well in higher settings.

Changed the case, aesthetics vs function. I rather you have a better system that'll do what you want it to, than to have it look nice and sacrifice for the aesthetics.

PSU, good psu. enough room for upgrades and what not if you ever decide to and it's cheaper.

Lowered price on the dvd/cd drive.

AMD:

Keeps the same GPU as your original build.

AMD cpu for budget purposes and a motherboard which supports a decent overclock if you are going to overclock it. (pick up a cm 212 evo whenever you're ready to overclock, if budget doesn't allow right now, overclock later on.)

Thanks heaps guys. Just found out he doesnt want any AMD components.. so with your recommendations I've made this. http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/BRhVmG
The BitFenix case is fine (I don't think he minds what the case looks like too much) but doesn't have front USB ports, so i'll check with him about if he needs those.

What kind of performance differences are there between the 4460 and 4590?
