Hi all,

I'm really hoping someone can help me out here. I don't have much hair left as it is but the rest will be gone too if I don't solve this!

I have an Asus X53E, intel core i5. Everytime I try and open up my pictures "windows Explorer Has Stopped Working and is looking for a solution". I put all my pics onto an external HDD and fully restored my Asus back to factory settings but after doing all that and fully updating it again it is still doing the same thing when I open my pics.( I put some pictures back on the laptop to test if it was still doing the same thing). Any help will be greatly appreciated, Martin.

Factory reset resets OS files.. The pics are third party files to the OS.. The problem is with the file and not the OS.. So you have the same problem with any other files? OR Can you view the picture? Can you open it in paint or other photo editing software?

@Algera One, I see what you mean, although it does happen with any of the folders in my pictures that I try to open.
@Cristi72, Thanks I will download and use those tools right now.

I had the same problem too.. That folder is corrupted.. HD tune is a good program but it is a trial version for 14 days only..
Crystal Disk info is a freeware.. Check the drive health status.. Also, trying to delete that corrupted file may give error that it is not accessible or some other errors, I recommend deleting it by booting to safe mode..

I took one RAM module out and windows memory diagnostic ran fine with no errors, then took the other RAM module out and put the untested one in and ran windows memory diagnostic, fine again with no errors. Put the both RAM modules in and windows memory diagnostic wont run at all, it just sits on the dark blank screen I mentioned earlier. I've totally restored the laptop and it is still saying,"windows Explorer Has Stopped Working and is looking for a solution".

Did you test both DIMM slots or only one? both DIMMs firstly in the first slot and then both DIMMs in the second slot?
Have you changed the memory or these are the original ones which came with the laptop?

It is possible that one of your DIMM slots or even the CPU is defective (less likely though, but possible if the CPU temperature exceeded the thermal threshold).

Thanks, I'll check again both slots as you suggested. It is the original RAM that came with the laptop too.

Here is a CBS log if it helps. 2014-08-02 10:57:39, Info CSI 00000aab [SR] Could not reproject corrupted file [ml:520{260},l:62{31}]"\??\C:\Windows\IME\IMESC5\DICTS"\[l:22{11}]"PINTLGB.IMD"; source file in store is also corrupted

Ok memory slots checked again one by one and all fine until I put both RAM back in and the windows memory diagnostic won't run?
