On that board, the top slot is PCI Express 3.0 x 16. If your were to put two cards in, they would operate as PCI Express 2.0 x 16. With a single card in the bottom slot, you'll get PCI Express 2.0 x 4. (Here's the note from GB: "* For optimum performance, if only one PCI Express graphics card is to be installed, be sure to install it in the PCIEX16 slot.")

So, it'll work but doing it that way will defeat much of the purpose of upgrading the card in the first place.
According to the specs, it's a mm too long. All of these will, within the same price range:

Having said that, there's at least one Amazon reviewer that fit it in, and there are at least a few posters on various forums who say they fit cards a couple mm longer than the Sapphire 290 into the same case. You can play it safe and go by spec, or you can take a chance.

Personally, having no experience with that case but looking at the pics, I think that if you do it slow and careful, you can make it work, but that's just my two cents. That and someone else's buck fifty will get you a cup of coffee:)

According to CoolerMaster's website, cards up to 304mm (11.96 inch) will fit in the case. The Sapphire R9 290 4GB GDDR5 OC TRI-X is 305mm (12.01 inch). As that's bigger than the case allows, I'm afraid it won't work.

hi thanks for the reply i have found this picture of the 690 ii advanced http://www.coolermaster-usa.com/upload/download/192/files/CM%20690%20II%20Advanced%20product%20sheet_0128.pdf in the picture it shows 2 sizes 304mm on top and 528 on bottom so i'm kinda confused

The top arrow is about where a single GPU normally goes and the bottom one is where a second card would go if you were going to do SLI or Crossfire. The bottom drive rack is removable - if you take it out it gives you almost 21" of GPU clearance.

but can i put a single GPU in the bottom?

What motherboard do you have?

Edit: I was going to wait for a reply but I gotta crash. Most likely you can run the card in the second slot, but I'd need to know the make and model to say for sure and whether there's likely to be a performance cost.
