Hey guys,
I'm currently using Windows 8.1. When I built my PC back in December, I've decided to go with Windows 8.1 on purpose, as I heard a lot of good things about the performance compared to Windows 7. If I am completely honest, I'll have to let you know that the main reason I got 8.1 instead of 7 was the transfer license -you know, just in case my motherboard would die, which it did- Since the moment I've got Windows 8.1 I have COMPLETELY disliked it. I just cannot understand why Microsoft would ruin a PC user's experience in this way. There's a lot of missing functionality on the desktop (Bluetooth for example, I can't even connect a BT device on the desktop. Oh no, I'll have to go to the Metro UI for that, which I completely dislike!) I'm also having a lot of compatibility issues with most of the programs and games I try to run, even when I use Windows 7 comp. mode. A few months back, it even BSOD'ed after a few minutes of use and would then say "CRITICAL_STRUCTURE_CORRUPTION" which means the same as "YOUR SYSTEM STRUCTURE IS F**KED. PLEASE RE-INSTALL WINDOWS" Anyhow, I have an old laptop with Windows 7 laying around, and altough it is an OEM code... would I be able to transfer it onto my desktop and then activate it by phone? The product key is obviously legit, just like my Windows 8.1 code. I'll easy pay €90,- for a new Windows 7 copy, it's just that money is an issue at the moment as I had to get my motherboard replaced. Does anyone know some smart tricks to COMPLETELY disable the "Metro UI"? I'm using Classic Shell and a Windows 7 Aero theme now. I want my PC to be a PC, and not to be a mix between a shitty tablet UI and a desktop OS. It just doesn't cut it for me. Any suggestions and answers will be appreciated!
