So im trying to migrate my Windows 7 (professional 64bit) to a Samsung 840 EVO SSD 120GB. I know its not the best solution, but i cant find my Windows setup info/disk anymore.

So the problem is that the original HDD disk size is ridiculously large (160GB out of 1TB). Ive been pulling my hair for the last two days now trying to figure out why. Ive removed every program, gone thru every file, used CCleaner, defragmented, deleted temp files etc. I just dont know what to do anymore. Havent found any file thats even over 10gb (except windows file).

I need help.

Win7 ISOs are available here if you want to do a clean install.

Other than that, not sure.

Install and run WinDirStat will show you where the space is used up.

WinDirStat is good as far as it goes, but it cannot, and will not show everything. There are directories that are only accessible by 'System', such as "<drive>:\System Volume Information\" (where the restore points are stored), that will always show 0 bytes used because user accounts (including 'Administrator') do not have read access down that path. Most likely that's where the bulk of the used space is hiding.

There's a reason that directory is protected. Do not blindly delete things in there. Use the proper tool to tell Windows to remove all but the most current restore point.

to stop that on a fresh install don't let windows do it lets say 160gb drive and partition the drive to its full 160bg windows only takes say 19gb but if you let windows auto partition it will take 35 gb for its self --- so the larger the drive the more windows takes unless you manually do it your self --
