Hi all, just wanted to ask a quick question about fans….

In my case (HAF 912 Plus) I have an intake fan, exhaust fan, top fan, and cpu fan…these are connected to the MOBO directly (Sys fan 1 etc), and all seem to work fine.

I’m reading a ‘Build your own PC book’ to further my knowledge – and it states:

'We need to provide power to the case's various fans...the cable to do this should of been supplied with the case and will have several rectangular four-pin power connectors on it. These connect to the rectangular white power connectors for the case fan' It then shows a pic of plugging in a power lead into the PSU...

Am I missing something here? Do you need something extra apart from directly plugging the fans into the MOBO – or is that just fine? I mean maybe I have got one, but as I haven’t installed the MOBO myself…I’m not sure.

Or is it just an alternative that you can plug all of the fans into a lead from the psu instead of directly into the MOBO?

Thanks

No, plugging it into the motherboard is fine, you only plug it into the psu if you have ran out of fan headers

And for that you have a special connector? How can I dientify this?

you can get 3 pin molex connectors or 4 pin molex connectors, they then plug into the psu
