Hello. I want to build my first gaming computer but I need help choosing which parts would be best. I mainly want to use this PC to play Gamecube emulated roms and the emulator of choice is the Dolphin Emulator. The Dolphin Emulator faq suggests the Intel i5-4670K and because the i5-4670K has integrated graphics that are good enough to run older Gamecube games I don't think I will need to buy a video card, right? The recommended GPU is the Intel HD3000 or HD4000 or anything that supports DirectX11.1 and OpenGL 4.4. My budget is around $500 and I will probably be installing a Linux distribution which will save me a bit of cash. I appreciate your help. Thanks.

Solution
Well, you probably don't need a i5 for gamecube emulator and to game, unless your pairing it with gtx 770/280x or better, is an overkill. APU has better graphics anyways. Just make sure these parts are compatible with linux before purchase if you decide.

But you're right, GC emulation is all about the CPU and this should run it absolutely fine. Plus, if you ever add a graphics card later on you'll have one hell of a machine

@ ak47jar3d
Thank you for your response.
The AMD A10-7850K supports DirectX 11.2, but does that mean it also supports DirectX 11.1?

@LucoTF
Thank you for your response.
The GC emulator runs on my current pc(Inspiron 537s) with a lot of lag but still runs on minimal settings.

Yes, if it supports dx 11.2, it will support 11, 10, 9 of any versions.

What do you think of this list?

I tweaked it a bit but the price difference isn't much and within my budget(this list includes an OS)

Go with an intel, Dolphin uses mainly two threads (cores) so stronger intel cores will do better than even 8 cores from say the FX 8350.

Just to note, i have dolphin +super smash bros brawl on my FX 8320 + HD 7870 runs flawlessly. For dolphin even a 7770 1GB will do which is dirt cheap now.

@ak47jar3d Thanks for your suggestions. I wasn't sure to go with Win 7 or 8 but I chose 7 just as a safe choice.

@Beezy
My first plan was to build something around the i5-4670 and skip on the video card for now because I think the integrated HD 4600 graphics would be good enough to run dolphin. My budget is around $500. I think I will still make a list around the i5-4670 just to compare and contrast but I still haven't made any final decisions.

no, and since it uses 2 cores you would be better off with an i3 +HD 7770 or r7 260 or 750ti. much better gaming combo all around.
