I purchased a computer, it's really loud. What's the best course of action?

Hi, I purchased the HP Envy 700 060ea, as a refurbished, as new, product from Currys online. I read all the reviews for this machine on their sight, many people reported that the machine was silent or very quiet, only one report said it was noisey. My machine is so noisy that I have to turn it off when looks are ready for bed as it disturbs them. I deduce from the reviews I have a lemon.

I am gutted as I love the specs for this machine and it is in my price range. I am a novice with all this tech stuff, I am learning fast but would really appreciate some advice on this as I'm not sure what to do for the best.

Is the noise an issue I could easily fix myself, baring in mind if I amend the machine in any way it will void the warranty and I will be stuck with it. Is the loud fan indicative that the machine is struggling and may breakdown? I will be gutted to return it as there are no more in stock and I will be without a PC until I find a suitable option, BUT I would rather that than be stuck with something that's not right.

Any thoughts on this would be welcomed.

Thanks in advance

Mandy

It depends which fan is causing the noise. If it's just a case fan, it's an easy fix, if it's the CPU cooler i'm not sure if it's possible to change it in that desktop as some companies make it so you cannot remove the motherboard and there may not be the necessary cut-out on the motherboard panel. If it is possible to change, it's not a hard job but it's down to you if it's worth the effort. If it's the GPU there is nothing that i'd advise you doing yourself. You can also get sound deadening material for inside the case, but thats only going to make it hotter in the case so I don't recommend that.

Thanks for quick response, appreciated. Would you say the noise is an indication of impending problems? Or would likely just be an irritating element with no functional issues? I'm deciding wether to stick with it in spite of the noise. Thanks again :)
