I have an acer aspire notebook or whatever it's called.. it's always connected to wifi. Although for about two weeks now it wont. I am not sure why. In the corner where the wifi symbol would be there is a desktop looking screen with a red x. It doesn't even pull up any routers. Every other device in my home is connected. 2 tablets, another laptop, a wii, I pods and phones. I am not sure why this is doing it.

I have tried to search and search and have tried everything. I clicked the wifi switch on and off. I went to the network settings and troubleshoot problems. I've tried everything I have found. Maybe there is something else. It says it will not connect without an ethernet cable.. but it used to connect perfectly.

Please can anybody help me?

The "desktop looking screen with a red x" is the network port(not wireless). Look in computer management and see if it shows a wireless device, and is it enabled.

Sometimes you have to press another key in addition to pressing the wifi button at the same time to get the wifi to turn on.
