So yesterday I was on my pc watching a stream when my internet went out randomly. after waiting a few minutes, i decided to restart my computer, and i went to ask my brother if the internet was out, he said his just came back online. I went back to my computer and it said i was connected to an unidentified network, no internet access.
I tried 4 different ethernet cords, different ports in the switch my brother and I use (including the one he has internet access with), plugging into the jack on the wall, taking my computer into the room where the router is and connected it straight to the router, all different ports with different cords, all with the same result. Meanwhile my brother and mother both have internet access.
I've tried disabled and enabling my adapter, uninstalling it and reinstalling it, shutting down all devices on the network along with the router and modem, and waiting. No dice.
This leads me to believe my adapter is broken somehow, but I have no idea if there is an easy way to test this and if there is anything else I can do to try to fix this. Any help or ideas?
Ps: I know little to nothing about networking and this issue is brand new to me, so some patience with any suggested solutions is appreciated
Thanks.
