After my last post of asking what was the best cooler for a LGA1155 CPU since the fan on Arctic freezer 7 pro had failed, I thought about asking arctic for a replacement fan. Although the cooler apparently has a 6 warranty on it, arctic weren't interested and sent me this (fan) link. It is cheap for the fan however the delivery is close to 12 euros, making it close to the price of a new cooler. I then found this (fan) which is very similar to the one I have now, although the fixing bracket is different. I was wondering if it would be possible to just swap the bracket over from the old broken fan which has clips on it to to the new fan?

If the heat transfer is optimized at 2000 RPM, then increasing the RPM to 2200 will not make any difference. The max RPM will be only during short bursts when the CPU/heatsink installation is done correctly using good thermal compound.

Go ahead with the 2000 RPM fan. The important thing is that the new fan has equal or better CFM when compared to the old fan.

Ok thanks. Just had a look on the arctic website and the new fan has an RPM of 600 to 2000 and the old fan has and RPM of 900 to 2200. Will this make much different in terms of temps?
