I am going to be making a new gaming pc. I will be using 1 monitor (maybe 2 in the future) and I will be gaming @ 1080p with ultra settings on games. I have chosen the i5-4690 and I have decided to get the r9 290 sapphire tri-x which is £295 on scan.co.uk http://www.scan.co.uk/products/4gb-sapphire-radeon-r9-290-tri-x-oc-28nm-6200mhz-gddr5-gpu-1000mhz-2560-streams-dport-dvi-hdmi

Is there any better GPU at that price? Should I stick with Sapphire Tri-X or choose something else ?

Here you can find the prices of EVGA, MSI ect. for the r9 290. http://www.scan.co.uk/shop/computer-hardware/all/gpu-amd/radeon-r9-290-pci-e-(2560-streams)

For 1080p that GPU will do nicely for the next couple years at high-ultra settings. I've never had a problem with Sapphire cards over the years or even known anyone that has. The tri-x cooler is very very good. You will love it. :)
Probably the best cooler out there ATM for the R9 290 with the Asus Direct CU II and MSI Gaming coming very close.
It's main downsides are is physical size, especially its 30 cm or so of length, so check it will fit the new build case!
No, I can't think of a better sub £300 card in the UK.

the asus dc2, along with the gigabyte windforce, do not do nearly as good a job cooling the vrms and mosfets as the sapphire tri-x and msi gaming. this isnt much of a serious issues since the hawaii chip is already so thermally limited (even with either one of theses four popular brands great coolers) that overclocking is limited and just paltry. but if you do decide to overclock with these cards and bring core temp back up to 90c like the reference cards run.... the asus and gigabyte vrms/mosfets temps are at dangerous levels well above 95c.

I have a case (NZXT Phantom 410) which supports video cards up to 12" or 305mm. It can be increased to 16.5" or 420mm if the upper hard drive cage is removed. So it should fit.
