As of today I've ran into this problem on my desktop in which I cant access the internet, it allows me to go on steam and be online but it doesn't fully load the profile pictures and such when im in my library and doesn't allow me to use store, community, activity etc, same goes for trying to access the internet the page simply does not load. I used the troubleshooter for my network and it seems to be a problem with Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller any help as to what the problem may be and how to fix it ?

OS: Win 8.1
MOBO: ASUS Z87-K

If any more specs are needed I can provide them and if any logs and such are required ill try to get them over onto my laptop. Any help is much appreciated

First let's check the device manager. You can get there by right-clicking on the start button on the lower left corner, and in the menu that comes up select "Device Manager." Your Realtek chip should appear under "Network adapters." Is there a yellow exclamation mark next to it? When you right-click the entry for that Realtek chip what does it indicate in the "status" under Properties?

As toubleshooting steps, first re-set the driver. Right-click that Realtek entry in the device manager, and select "uninstall." Click OK to whatever boxes come up. That entry should be gone when this completes. Next look at the top of the Device Manager window and click the icon that says "scan for hardware changes" which is right under the...

This should cause the system to re-start the Realtek network controller. Close any browser or Steam windows and try again. If you still have problems, the next step is to refresh Windows.

IF it still doesn't work after this, your network chip might be faulty. In that case you can disable the onboard network and install a network card like one of these (ask for help with that if you get to this point and need to know how to do this)

There is no yellow exclamation mark and it says the device is working properly but if I troubleshoot my network it says that the Realtek PCIe GBE is the problem. As for your troubleshoot methods ill give them a go and get back to you on the results, thanks for the reply.

I was having a problem like this after installing a fresh windows7 os, but when i ran the internet diagnostic it said that nothing was wrong, but the ethernet logo in the bottom right of my screen had the yellow triangle indicating that there was some sort of network issue.

Luckily i could run the realtek ethernet driver setup and repair it, to fix the problem. BUT as soon as i reboot my pc, the driver was messed up again. So now i have completely removed the driver and reinstalled it, which seems to have fixed the issue, though i haven't rebooted my pc yet.

hope this can be of some help.

Just rebooted my pc and the issue still persists.... PLEASE HELP!

ok, reinstalling my OS seems to have fixed the issue... I don't know why it was behaving so strange, though it might have had something to do with my old os being broken. Anyways, now it works fine.

hope this will help.

OK guys! Super easy fix, not as hard as you think. I recommend doing two things simultaneously as I did, but either one of them (or both) was the correct fix. I just did them at the same time.

1. Start, all programs, accessories, system tools, disk clean up, (c) drive for me, the main drive i guess, i'm not a computer wiz by all means so this should give you even more hope. I just clicked temp files, recycling bin, stuff that seemed to junk up memory unnecessarily, but I did leave system error logs alone just in case to check report
2. I went to control panel, programs, and UNINSTALL THE LATEST JAVA UPDATE, I did recall it was after updating this java one night I couldn't go online the next time (a night or two after)

That's it! I rebooted and VOILA! No joke, I have internet connection again!

FYE: yes I tried system restore, replugging both ethernet connection and power cord and a couple other things I read online. BUT THIS WORKS! Apparently there was a corrupt file which I deleted during disk clean up or just uninstalled a bad Java Update which turned off/ disrupted communication from my comp and its device drivers.

Anyways, give it a try!
