GT 430 Overheating, fan spinning

My Nvidia GT 430 was overheating a few months ago, and I found that the fan wasn't spinning. Some WD-40 and 3-in-1 oil got it spinning again, and it's been fine until yesterday. As of yesterday, my card is getting up to (and over) 100C in games, which causes my computer to crash. However, the fan is still running.

Any idea what's causing this overheat?

Probably the WD40 and oil you put on the fan. Just what were you trying to "oil"?

I removed the fan from the card (damn those tiny screws), and I removed the CoolerMaster sticker from the back. This exposed the holes that led to the axle of the fan. I put WD-40 in it, which cleared out the gunk in the fan and allowed it to spin freely. I then put 3-in-1 electrical machine oil in the holes to ensure that the fan would continue to spin freely.

I did this based on instructions from a thread in this forum. It worked for 2 months, and yesterday I noticed that the card was overheating again, but this time the fan was still spinning.

I don't think it's the oil, but I could be wrong.

What I meant was that the oil and solvent may have migrated from the fan bearing to the card causing your issue. That IS the direction the fan is driving the air flow.
But if the card is several years old and has had lots of use, another problem could be that the thermal paste between GPU and heat sink is dried out and not transferring heat well. I usually replace the thermal paste on my cards every couple years of daily use.

I suppose I'll try replacing the thermal paste then. Is there any brand you'd recommend? If I'm doing this, I'm doing it right.
