Computer Freezes Almost Randomly, no BSOD, already tried clean reinstall

My problem is simple, my computer freezes randomly, no BSOD, no coming back from a freeze. It could freeze at any point, but is usually happens during either big games, when I compile a video, or sometimes even while watching videos. It's the kind of freeze that nothing responds, the sound is stuck in a tiny annoying loop, and the only way out is a hard reset.
Things got so bad that eventually I did get some bsod every crash, so I tried to do the whole clean c: drive and reinstall.

It's not that its a bad computer (has a 6.7 in windows experience index), and it never overheats.
I suspect something with the bios settings like the timings, ratios, voltages, or whatever, but I don't know what to do with those...

Windows 7 64bit home premium
motherboard: h87-plus ASUS
processor: intel core i5-4670

I have tried to research this and found out I have GSkill memory that is not on the qvl (in the DDR3 2000 section), but the part number is so close I dont think it matters.

Is there anything I can do, change setting or anything, that will solve this?

I would begin by removing any overclocking or automatic overclocking & reset the memory timings to SPD in the bios, save & reboot and see if the errors continue. If they do then run memtest86 for a good while. If it fails then power down and take out all but 1 stick of ram and begin testing the sticks of ram individually.
