I am using the E machines EL1358G-51W and I would like to play games on it. Unfortunately it is really slow. Could anyone give me suggestions on what to upgrade so I could play a game like Smite or minecraft without lag?

Those mini pc's are not very upgradeable .
The Power supply in that machine if really weak . 220w was stated in the specs.
you coud try adding a GT640 gpu but i'm not sure if it fits . - this is the maximum upgrade with that power supply.
Anyway if you have a 400$ budget at least , you could build ( or ask someone to or 20-30$ )a system that is better in every aspect .

I would suggest you save more money and built a new rig, the CPU upgrade for that rig is very limited and you will have to buy used parts for that.

I agree with the other posters and would like to add that if you wanted to, you could either sell the computer or its components to earn some money for a gaming computer. Or you could take the hard drive and optical drive out of the computer for a new build.

I am hoping to just upgrade this one to be able to do some medium level gaming for around 100 bucks or a little over. I just don't know what is going to work in this computer. Also if I do upgrade would Ram and a graphics card be a good choice? Would that do it?

First you should open it up and tell us what you got.

Without seeing the actual thing i think u have 1x2gb and 1x1gb ram , you should not change the 1gb module to 2gb unless you know you have 64 bit compatibility for all drivers , also it's not worth it ...DDR2 is getting expensive.
I think a HD6670 -low profile will fit , such as http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sapphire-11192-18-20G-HD6670-Pr... , or something similar , and that will significantly increase the graphics perfomance .
i don't know if the system is intel or amd based but a cpu upgrade , would be nice .
For the 2 components you should be prepared to give up to 140-150 $.

The only upgrade i would do as of now is to add a graphics card , preferably the one mentioned above .

But the graphics card you just told me to upgrade to is a 400 w when the psu i have is only 220w

i'm pretty sure it would work , but you must open it and measure the actual space you have inside the case for the graphics card , the leght is the most important parameter.

Honestly after looking through the computer specs and pricing on eBay and other places, it would be a lot more aggravation than it is worth to try and sell it for anything. Using a few of the components for a new build seems the best route to go.

Thank you so much! I have a question on how when I look up this card it says minimum 400w and my computer 220w on how the card doesn't actually run above 220w

if you have at least 190(L)x62(W)x23(H)mm space , than it's ok.
also manufacturer and model of cpu ? -you can find it: Control Panel\System and Security\System -

well 400w is a general "minimum" for every mainstream pc , i know dudes who had intel i3 + Gtx650 with 300w psu

Apparently you have : AMD Athlon II X2 220 CPU wich consumes max 65watt , now add 58 maybe 60w for the gpu , and that is 125 watt.
You need additional 10w for the hdd and 15w for the dvd burner , and maybe 15-20w for the rest of the system. That adds up to 170w , let's make that 180.
and 180w is only 81.82% , let's say you will not burn dvd's while gaming , and than the system shoud consume no more than 170watt at most .
If you thrust the power supply , make the upgrade , if you don't and want to change the psu or can change the psu to get the gpu than ok it;s your call

After seeing the value of the pc , i'm not so sure about upgrading anything at all .
2 choice:
-Buy the Graphics card (small gamble) - costs as much as the value of the whole computer.
-Wait till you have minimum 350$ , then come ask for help .(cause you have a console anyway right?)

I would really like to see if this would work though. the card that you mentioned is only 59.99 so I can afford that.

ok i told you already measure it and go for it , i it fits .
in theory everything should work flawlessly but there are no guarantees.....also found this :

You may choose whatever gpu you like but make sure it won't consume more than 65w under any circumstances and it is low profile/half height , and it fits.
