I have a bizarre problem.
I have two computers, a gaming pc running win 7, and a media center pc running win 8.1
The gaming pc when hooked up directly to my modem speedtests at 50 Mb/s. Then I use the same Ethernet cord and restart the modem and hook up my media center it speed tests at 4 Mb/s.
Also, I have a wireless N adapter that when plugged into my gaming PC it speed tests at 50, and in the media center again around 4 Mb/s. The media center is right next to the wireless router so I doubt signal strength is the culprit in this particular scenario.
I went to gigabyte's website, the manufacturer of my MoBo, and downloaded the LAN drivers. I then went to device manager and uninstalled my LAN drivers. Then I installed the drivers I just downloaded. And VIOLA, my media center is speedtesting at 50 Mb/s. I pop in the wireless adapter to see if it is also going to test at 50 and nope it tests at 4. Then I take it out and test it again on LAN, and boom back to 4 Mb/s. I restart the computer still at 4 on LAN.
Then I repeat the process of installing the drivers and back to 50 Mb/s. I restart the computer and upon restart it is back to testing at 4 Mb/s.
I am so stumped on what is causing this and I have spent so many hours googling and trying random stuff that I am about to pull my hair out. If anyone could offer some insight I would be so appreciative.
Thanks
