I have had some confusion with the network capabilities of the mobo. It's my first build and I need to know if this has built-in wifi or if I need an adapter. If so, should I go with PCI, PCIe, or USB 3.0?

No it hasn't got wifi built in. Only an ethernet port.
You need an adapter. You can use USB or a PCIE card or PCIE. It will depend on your choice. PCI and PCIE is similar. If you have a graphic card, choose the slot further away from it.
USB is more portable.
If you are using WIndow 8, check the product support Window 8 before buying.
