I'm looking to pretty much build a new PC and was wondering if going from an A8-5500 APU to an FX-6300 would be a big enough upgrade to warrant the money. Or should I just wait and wait until I can get a better FX CPU like the FX-8350.

More about : 6300

if you're getting a discrete graphics card get the fx 6300 or 8320(or 8350) if not get the a8. Remember that the fx series does not have an inbuilt gpu.

I think you misunderstood (Could be my fault) I currently have the A8-5500 APU with the onboard graphics disabled and am using standalone GPU and plan on transferring that GPU to the new build. I was just wondering if I would see sizable difference in performance going from an A8-5500 to a FX-6300 (Or 8320/8350 if the 6300 isn't a big enough jump)

hard to say depents on how cpu intensive the game is and wich gpu you're using, I dont think it's worth it to get a new motherboard and a fx 6300 for that little improvement.
If you're thinking about a new system you might want to consider an i5.

I'm running a Sapphire Radeon HD 7770 1GB. I'm planning on buying all new parts in a month or so and buying a new GPU later around December because this one is good enough for now. Games like ARMA and DayZ are hard to run even on lower settings because my CPU/APU.

you wont notice alot of difference with the fx cpu on dayz.

Try optimizing your settings for dayz(offtopic) one of them, and this helps me the most, is putting the video memory on default.

Hm, alright. I'll start looking into better CPUs and start deciding what my build will be. Thanks for the information.
