OK, I know this might be a stupid question. The thing is that I've come across a bargain sapphire 7870 (100€), but my computer is ancient right now. CPU is an athlon 64 x2 (yes, am2 socket) and my current GPU is an amd 4850.

I was already thinking on a full upgrade by this year's last quarter, but I thought I could buy this GPU in the meantime.

So, I know there will be a severe bottleneck, what do you think about it? Will I notice an improvement or not?. Of course, I would reuse that GPU in the future once I upgrade, maybe until next gen GPU prices go down a little bit.

Its worth it. Its gcn architecture that will be supported in the future and you definitely see an image quality improvement while some of the games that won't run on the 4850(dx10) will run on the new card. Go for it, its a good deal, if the seller has more than 1 i;d love to buy one cuz i live in europe so send me a link :)

Thanks for your answer, I've already got it and will try it next week. In the worst case scenario I will having it in it's box while I bite my nails until I upgrade my rig.

Unfortunately, the doesn't have any more units at that price :(, but I'll PM you if I see something similar these days.
