Hello all long time lurker and first time poster! I recently came across a Pavilion dv7-7234nr which was literally in half. The only thing holding the two pieces together was the lvds cable. Come to find out that the only thing wrong with it was the motherboard. I replaced the original mobo 682220-501 with a 682220-001 according to this thread:
http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Hardware-Upgrades-Replacements/Motherboard-replacement-HP-ENVY-DV7-7230us-HELP/td-p/3740704

and the people selling the replacement mobo the only difference between the two is one was made for win 7 and the other win 8. My dilemma much like the guy in the other thread is after swapping boards and plugging hdd back up computer doesnt boot. I can get into bios fine but win8 doesnt boot.

Here is what I have done so far:
1. installed win7 and updated mobo bios
2. put hdd into another computer and cloned to another drive
3. tried playing around with diskpart and bcd
4. installed win8 hdd into another win 8 laptop (laptop booted into win8 log in screen)

Whenever original hdd is installed into laptop it gives an error message about "harddrive imminent failure, perform hdd diagnostic or press enter to continue"
Of course I hit enter and nothing boots. Does anyone have any ideas what I should do?
